Swami Vivekananda was a non-vegetarian, so why was he called a saint?

Why was Swami Vivekananda a non-vegetarian even though he was a saint?

"The desire to eat fish or meat ceases when pure sattvicism develops; therefore it is a sign of progress towards truth." - Swami Vivekananda

There are no two opinions in this matter that Swami Vivekananda had consumed fish and meat. If Swamiji was born in a Kayastha family in Bengal, then obviously people in his family would have eaten fish, because about 90% of people in Bengal eat fish and meat, that is why Swamiji too Must have eaten meat…!

Even his guru Ramakrishna Paramahansa ji used to eat fish. There are some poojas in Bengal in which fish is offered to God.

But after attaining truth and knowledge, Swamiji renounced meat eating and chose pure sattvicism.

The first time I found out that Swamiji was a non-vegetarian, it hurt me a lot. I was in college at the time. I thought, how can any sattvic person consume meat. Thinking all this, a little hatred towards Swami ji also arose in my mind. The biggest reason for this was that I am from a Brahmin family.

But just in the last few years I read about Swamiji, listened to his Chicago speech and listening to him I was very impressed with Swamiji and further I started reading about him continuously. You too can read or listen to many of Swami Vivekananda's speeches online if you wish.

Swami Vivekananda's entire life was without hypocrisy. His clear view of meat eating was that it is not wrong for mankind to eat meat in order to survive. But even if you have a choice, if you choose meat, it is completely wrong.

At the same time, it is wrong that we do all kinds of hypocrisy in the name of seeking the truth. To discover the truth, first of all we must have the ability to accept the truth.

Swami Vivekananda was opposed to the English education system formulated by Macaulay and prevalent at that time, as the purpose of this education was just to increase the number of Babus. He wanted an education that would enable all-round development of the child. The purpose of education of a child is to make him self-reliant and to stand on his own feet.

There is only one preaching by him to be successful in life ...!

“Take an idea and make it the only idea of your life. Think about this idea, dream and live on this idea. Let this one thought fill your brain, mind and veins. That is the way to success. This is how big spiritual religions become men. ” - Swami Vivekananda
